Joy B. Witherell, 93, of Yakima, Washington, peacefully passed away on July 25, 2022. She was born on November 10, 1928, in Pyatt, Arkansas, to William Lee Casey and Ader Price.
Joy graduated from Highland High School in 1946 and married George Witherell, Jr. on April 25, 1947, in Yakima, Washington.
Throughout her years, George and Joy made their homes in Tieton, Olympia and Yakima, Washington. Throughout their lives they owned and operated an apple ranch, Amoco Oil, Witherell and Sons Agricultural Chemicals, and retired from Simplot Soilbuilders in Tieton, Washington, to a peaceful home in West Valley. Joy was a member of the Tieton Presbyterian Church.
Joy always looked after her family, providing her home, time, and love to those who needed it.
Joy enjoyed travelling with George and visited Europe, Cancun, and the United States, and held especially fond memories of a trip throughout Ireland, Scotland, and England with her sister, Jo. Joy also enjoyed camping, gardening, playing cards with friends, and loved baking with George, especially their famous lemon meringue pies.
Joy is preceded in death by many of her family and friends, including her parents, husband, children, and four of her siblings. Joy is survived by her sister, Dorothy Jo Casey Iverson, of Des Moines, Washington, two grandchildren, Barbara Keller, of Kirkwood, Washington, and Angela Joy Beschta, of Seattle, Washington, and six great-grandchildren, Katie, Kylar, and Callahan Keller, of Kirkwood, Washington, and Emma, Avery and Connor Beschta, of Seattle, Washington.
A Graveside Service will be held at West Hills Memorial Park, on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm.
