We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at West Hills Memorial Park
Patricia (Patsy, Pat) Rae Steenbergen, 82, of Yakima, passed away July 17, 2022, at Cottage in the Meadow. Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caring sister. She was the "super glue" of the family.
Pat was born March 23, 1940, in Yakima, to Ray and Opal Clubb. Along with her older sister Beverly, the family lived in West Valley at the Lemon Estate as caretakers. The Clubbs were active members of the Nob Hill Grange and Ahtanum Pioneer Church. The family also enjoyed summers at their cabin at Bumping Lake.
Pat graduated from Yakima's Davis High School in 1958 and after, attended and graduated from Yakima Valley Community College.
Pat and her future husband, Julian Steenbergen, met as young teens through the Nob Hill Grange where their families were life-long members and friends. Pat and Julian were married on March 17, 1960, and raised three children, Mary, Judy, and David. Many Irish coffees were enjoyed celebrating their St. Patty's Day anniversary! This year they celebrated 61 years of marriage. For the entirety of their time together, Julian worked the family orchards and Pat did the bookkeeping.
Pat was active for many years in her sorority group Beta Sigma Phi, Birthday Club, and with husband Julian the Yakima Valley Boat Club, and Eagles Club. She loved vacationing at Whaler's Cove on Kauai, Hawaii, and cruising on their boat at Rim Rock Lake, Lake Roosevelt, and in the San Juans.
Most recently Pat's special place was at the family cabin in Packwood, where she loved to sit on the deck, or by the fire, watching the river and Mt. Rainier with a gin and tonic.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and sister. She is survived by her husband, Julian; her daughters Mary Renner of Spokane and Judy Steenbergen-Webb (John) of Sammamish, son Dave Steenbergen (Alizia) of Yakima; her granddaughters Chloe Webb of Sammamish, Shiley Struck (Ryan) of Monroe, and great-granddaughter Halie Struck.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 25, at 11 a.m. at Keith & Keith, 902 West Yakima Avenue, Yakima. Interment will follow at West Hills Memorial Park, 11800 Douglas Road.
